Cubicles: The great mistake
Many people rate cubicles as one of the worst inventions ever. Gee...you think?! This CNN article reminds me of the "wave cubicles" that we had at ZoomTown. In theory, they were supposed to encourage collaboration. In reality, they just let you keep tabs on everyone else's business, and too much togetherness led to elevated stress levels. In a related story, check out CNN/FOrtune's "5 rules to make your work day sane"

Barry Bonds
ESPN reports that "Game of Shadows," a book to be released in late March and written by reporters Mark Fainaru-Wada and Lance Williams, details the steroid use of Barry Bonds. The book reportedly illustrates how Bonds began using performance-enhancing drugs, including steroids and human growth hormone, beginning in 1998. While not really a shock to anyone who follows baseball, I was intrigued as to whether or not anyone ever took the time to create a picture gallery that chronicles Barry's physique over the course of his career. As luck would have it, there is a ESPN gallery that has pictures of Bonds from 1988 through 2004. Conclusive evidence? No...but you can not deny there is a distinct difference (with "difference" meaning "enlargement") in his appearance after the 1998 season. During the first ten years of his career, his physique did not change much. From 1998 through the present, however, his forearms alone have doubled in size. Publicly, Bonds attributes his muscle mass to his extensive workout regime, insinuating that once he grew older, he realized he needed to keep his body in peak condition in order to keep playing. Personally, I never cared for the guy either way - I'm an Indians fan.

AT&T Reaches Deal to Buy BellSouth
(aka "Reason #419 not to work for Cincinnati Bell Telephone")
Under a federal court order, eight regional telephone operators were spun from the old AT&T in 1984. Twenty-two years later, the Ma Bell family is trying to reunite. Does this remind anyone else of the Jeff Goldblum quote in Jurassic Park: "God made dinosaurs, God kills dinosaurs. God creates man, man creates dinosaurs...dinosaurs eat man..."
