::: Yes, Your Vote Does Actually Matter :::
I've been watching the election polls, results and surveys around Cincinnati all day. One of the more interesting surveys attempts to measure voter turnout and shows 8% of registered voters within the city did not actually vote. Some people did not think their vote would matter (4%), they could not find time to go to the polls (2%), did not know how or where to vote (1%), or were not eligible to vote (1%), but roughly 92% of the city's eligible voters still cast their ballots yesterday. While 92% is a great turnout, consider the following:
  • According to the United States Census, the city of Cincinnati's population is roughly 333,000.
  • Of those people, approximately 76% are eligible to vote...which means 79,920 people.
  • If 8% of those people did not actually turn in a ballot, that means almost 6,394 votes are not accounted for.
  • And now, look at how many of the races and/or issues were decided by fewer than 5,000 votes.

    ::: Rock the Vote :::
    Remember to vote early and vote often...and to support your local school levies! Education is more important than slot machines and the city should never have to close a school due to lack of funding.
